VISA balaji

Saw a show called 'mano ya na mano' it comes after laughter challenge on star one
I guess with 'laughter' loosing its sheen we are looking at other things too

This show is about strange but supposedly true stories. And this time they showed something i hav seen or atleast heard for myself. VISA balaji.
They showed a dramatic reconstruction of a stressed out fellow who had been rejected visa (have seen the kind) and how his friend suggested he does 11 pradakshinas and then immediately he gets visa. And they interviewed some pujaris one of whom even went on to put forth an explaination too of some kind calling it vibration theory.

And yet the funny thing was what the host (irfan khan) said in the end
"shayad sach me is mandir me mannat maangne se visa mil jata hai ya shayad yaha ke students hai hi itne KABIL "
Well I know better than tht.

Anyways coming to my ponderings. In case of visas i guess i have only seen extermeties. Either it is people who get it jst so easily (30 sec types), that in the end u feel your preparation deserved a better test or ones who are rejected very ruthlessly and so many times.

Now the show is asking the public for stories. Well i got one for them ..mehdiptanam balaji. what say guys

LASHKAR ..... Bring'em on

You mite hav seen on TV if not follow this
http://www.timesnow.tv/articleshow/1821867.cms

Let me reveal the headline ...
BARC on Lashkar map?

Well this surely doesnt scare me off ... infact I seem to showing signs of the true "Mumbai spirit" that has been the much talked about thing these days.

Well I still have a month to go before I go there. I was wondering what happens if in the meanwhile, the 'option' that I had picked, foregoing few others, just went up in smoke.

I would be the perfect "dhobi ka kutta" then ghat (ksu) ka to raha hi nai, Ghar me bomb foot gaya!!!

Confirmed

Finally dust seems to be setteling on the future. The admission to BARC is finally confirmed. Promptly displayed on their website, were the awaited words.

The only down side is that I still have a month to kill.

I have dreamed of such clarity about the future since long. But it has been so long now that I feel I am addicted to the suspense. So I would still like to repeat the old line. Let us see what happens.

This one month could hold some further twists. But I suppose this is the death knell to the Fatherland. So I hope.

Motherland ZNB

I have decided to give a hand to the "fatherland"
Inspite of the visa, Inspite of probably the best deal on airfare,

I think I will try something out that is thoda hatke.

So I am going to be a SCIENTIST at BARC (bombay) That ofcourse would be after one year of training.

Things i am looking forward to

- avoiding the magazmari of staying in US as a student which includes all the dailiy work and yet being thrifty with $s

-Staying in mumbai as a student, in a hostel. I used to dream of it when I was preparing for IIT.

- And most of all staying clear and let all the rats in the race pass by. Let us see if there is something that they left behind in the haste.

Bambai nagariya ...tu dekh babua

This is about the trip to bombay
We were 5 people and looking at us nobody would have guessed that this troup was headed for a job interview. 6 people seated in the coupe and 5 of'em we. I wouldn't in my life want to be the 6th one. bechara must hav suffered. He gets a mention later. look out.
Boarded the train at 2 and the cards were out by 3.
Bachha (sriram) proposed a game. Got the hang of it. HUmmm but i lost the starting game itself. Couldn't bear the embarresment. Result - ammendments to the game. The game doesnt yet hav a name but it already has got version number 2.3.7 :).
Typical of The indiam parliament.

went on went on .. meanwhile the unfortunate uncle also joined in. Turns out his name is Naresh (CSE ppl cant stop laughing)

small break for dinner. and again continued
Stopped only when we started looking like this. (tiime post midnight)

We had been thouroughly warned abt rain in mumbai and the moment we got up we could very clearly see why.

One word comes to mind for the rain - RELENTLESS

the poor umbrellas which must have thought they were doomed never to be used in Hyd unfurlled back to life suddenly doing what they do best ... letting two people under them get wet. because inspite of the mighty warnings we ofcourse fell short of the requisite num of them.

Mumbai runs on locals. Had heard this. gotto see it.
Got into the first local of the trip. Little knowing that the initial excitement was fleeting and we would be as habituated to the locals as a typical mumbaikar by the end of the trip.

Reached our destination, an empty (almost) quarter at A.T.I mumbai as early as 6 in the morning.
Hesitated a bit and banged the door only after confirming.
Uncle was nice. Stays alone. Made nice tea for all of us and shared his horrific experiences of the mumbai floods last year. Making more and more clear that in mumbai it literally rains cats and dogs.
The interview was next day but we were hoping that we will find hostel accomodation.
Now we went in a BEST bus. Not bad but didn't wait long enough for the direct bus which ofcourse followed us just minutes later.

Now we had expected this to be another govt research facility with huge real estate and yet what we saw was indeed shocking.
bombay ke keechad me this campus is the kammal
see for urself

After securing the hostel accomodation and meetin our new roommate we set out for the routie mumbai darshan
Me being the most recent visitor to the city was trying to show off the phoney knowledge.
Anyways gotto VT from there to the Gateway

Next stop was ofcourse the Marine drive. Our luck-it wasnt raining at the time and hence no Aaj Tak cams were posted there. Then went along to the Girgaon chowpaty. Had trademark panipuri bhelpuri and baraf ka golas And no this is not NY
while returning we had to make a pit stop at ATI to pick up the luggage. And 2 guys who hadnt been alotted accom were staying back for the night. With a high dose of luck we got a direct Gate-to Gate bus late in the night. And we reached the hostel cool.

Mr.Roommate was studying hard. His question to us " aap logo ke liye itna serious nai hai kya intv"
:P

Got up early the next day. A rare feat.
But still went half an hour late The procedure had an initial varification of documents after which i came to knw that the intrview would be only after noon. It further got postponed to post luch session and started only after 2pm.

And it ran for more than a football match duration. Dont hav the paitience to punch in the details.
Anyways I was recommended for medical testing. Something positive ofcourse.

That night wasnt anything significant.

The canteen at the hostel though deserevs a mention. A unique system requires u to pay for all the things u want and only that much.
But then you hav to be sure that you will finish up with what all u took and cant refill :(

Meanwhile we had a plan cooking. Extend our tickets by one day and goto khandala (with rani) So rahul went on that task the next day while me n bachha went for our medicals and tej n gopi went for their interviews.

We finished our things only by 630 in eve. And gopi n tej were not reffered for medical so next day itself was totally free. So khandala it was going to be . And now we had to wrap mumbai up. So decided to go to Juhu beach at 730.

Before that ofcourse we celebrated Tej's B'day with the famous line "cake khane ke liye ham kahi bhi jaa sakte hai"

Got a nice direct bus. Took more than an hour. It was low tide so couldn't go deep into water. That didnt stop us from another round of trademark stuff. Pavbhaji bhel ragda and then falooda. Came out after 10 and missed two direct buses.

That made possible another experience. We got to see why the film "chameli" was made.

Reached hostel after midnight. decided not to sleep the night so that we could hav an early start for khandala. 330am ...all zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
till 730 too late ...reached VT only at 9 and the next train was at 1230 so khandala flopped terribly.

No probs went to Siddhivinyak and from there took a fast local ..going to EsselWorld. It sure was a bit heavy on the pocket but the experience was worth. Mind spinning. and almost puking we came out of one ride after another.

totally out of breath we decided this was enough fun and started on our way back. Me had to visit the initial uncle one last time so gopi cam along with me and rest 3 went to hostel to pick up luggage.

One shud hav seen the route planning being carried out. True mumbaikars at work. In just 4 days.
Finally reached VT and met 15 min bfr the train started. Slept like Hell on the way back so nothing to write abt.
